This is what we found:
- Young males are a high majority of the target audience due to most films in this genre being very masculine, containing guns, cars and violence.
- Fans of both the comedy genre and the action genre are also the target audience becuase there are elements in Action/comedy films that will appeal to them.
Action comedy films blend comic antics and action where the film stars combine wit and one-liners with a thrilling plot and scenes of exciting fast paced action. These type of films are often buddy films, with 'mismatched' partners such as in Midnight Run, Rush Hour, Bad Boys, and Hot Fuzz. They are expected to make audiecnes laugh with the comical elements and to make them rush with adrenaline at the car chases, gun fights etc.
From this research we plan to include 'mismatched' partners in our short film. However instead of one of the characters being serious and the other stupid, both of the main characters in our film are going to be failures. However they will still have there differences to create a contrasting ‘mismatched' effect.
Also we plan to combine comical elements with action, probably one main action packed scene as it is only a short film.
