Chase Scene Research

The final scene of our film contains an on-foot chase sequence therefore we looked at some on-foot chase scenes in films.

These scenes contain:

• A lot of camera movement

• In point break there are a number of tracking shots where the actors run towards the camera, past the camera and then the camera quickly pans around to capture the actor running away from the camera.

• Lots of match-on-action shots

• A large number of tracking and dolly shots

• Hand held camera movement is displayed in some shots

• Some shots are from the actors Point of view

• Fast paced editing and high tempo soundtracks to create excitment in the scenes.

We think the song 'Clubfoot' by Kasabian would be a good soundtrack to go with our chase scene as it is quite a fast upbeat track, the drums especially lend themselves to a chase. Also the lyrics in the song match the chase scene well with lines such as, "Chase down an empty street" and "It's taken all these days to find ya".
