Shooting the split screen effect

After watching the video tutorial on how to create a split-screen effect, we realise that to achieve this we will have to shoot the scene in a particular way. We will have to treat both scenes seperatley shooting each characters lines in full with somebody off camera reading the lines of the other character. This will help for getting the conversation syncronised when it comes to editing. Also when we film each characters part we will have to allocate the left hand side of the screen only for one and the right hand side for the other. We plan to achieve this by covering over half of the viewfinder on the camera so we can position each shot accordingly.
