Script - Refined version

FINAL CONTRACT

FADE IN:

INT. MATT’S HOUSE - DAY

Ex Special Forces agent MATTHEW GRAHAM is sat in his house alone sipping a glass of whiskey. He picks up an old photograph of himself with his former Special Forces unit and gazes at it.

(Phone Rings)

Matt places down the photo and picks the phone up.

MATT
Hello.

MAN’S VOICE
Mr Graham, it’s been a long time.

MATT
Harry Stubs?

HARRY
Yes, glad you remember me.

MATT

How could I forget, how can I help you?

HARRY

I need you to carry out an important assassination.

MATT

Assassination?

HARRY

Yes, a certain Russian is proving difficult to remove, he goes by the name of Master Maskirovki

MATT

Master of disguise...What’s wrong with sending your current agents?

HARRY

That’s the problem Matthew, all of my best agents are dead. Maskirovki has killed them all. He seems to be getting to our agents before they get to him. I fear we have a traitor amongst us whom is leaking information.

MATT

Sounds like you're deep in the shit.

HARRY

I cannot risk sending another agent from here. However you are the perfect man for the job.

MATT

I don’t know Harry, I swore after Cairo that I’d never kill anybody ever again.

HARRY

Ahh, I thought you might say that, that is why I am offering 10 million pounds for this job.

MATT

Shit you really are desperate aren't you?

HARRY

You have no idea Matt, please consider my offer, help an old friend in need I know you can do it.

MATT

Okay Harry, but this is just a one off just to help you out, God I must be crazy.

HARRY

Ah excellent, I am forever grateful and don’t kid yourself you’ve always been crazy!

MATT

True, so where do I find this Maskirovki?

HARRY

You’ll find all the information you need in that mobile phone, I expect to hear from you soon. Goodbye Matthew.

Matt ends the call and looks deep in thought.

MATT

Here we go again.

EXT. TERRY’S HOUSE – DAY

Matt pulls up outside TERRY’s house in his car. He gets out the car and walks up the footpath. He looks through the window and sees Terry asleep on the sofa next to a table full of empty beer cans. Matt knocks on the door and it opens as he does so he walks inside.

INT. TERRY’S HOUSE – DAY

Matt walks into the living room and tries to wake Terry

MATT
Hey Terry wake up!

Terry stirs and mutters in his sleep and then he farts loudly.

MATT
Ugh Jesus! Wake up!

Terry wakes.

TERRY
No no Passant I don’t have any paracetamol.

MATT
What? It’s Matt.

TERRY
Matt Damon?

MATT
Matt Graham

TERRY
Matt Graham. What are you doing here?

MATT

I need weapons for a one-off mission.

TERRY

Sounds cool what do you have to do?

MATT

Assassinate some Russian.

TERRY

Wow, that’s pretty cool man. Can I come?

MATT

No.

TERRY

Come on, I’m a professional.

Terry tries swinging his gun and drops it on the couch.

MATT

Evidently. Look I’m not taking you with me. Now can I buy some weapons?

TERRY

No way man you’re not using my weapons unless I come with you.

MATT

Jesus Terry! It’s not a game!

TERRY

I’m not scared Matt, I’m just wasting my life away here. I want to do something exciting for once.

MATT

Fine you can come in the car but for god’s sake no messing around Terry. Now lets see these weapons.

INT. TERRY’S GARAGE – DAY

Terry and Matt enter the garage and stop in front of a cabinet.

TERRY

You ready?

MATT

Let’s do it.

Terry hands Matt a pistol, Matt reloads it and puts it in his back pocket. Terry then walks up to the cabinet and opens the doors. He pulls a shotgun out and throws it to Matt who catches it and reloads it. Terry pulls another shotgun out and reloads it one handed. Matt puts on some shades and a places a toothpick in his mouth.

TERRY

Ow What! I want some sunglasses.

MATT

You can’t pull these off.

Terry slaps the toothpick out of Matt’s mouth.

MATT

Just get in the car Terry.

The garage door opens and Matt and Terry walk out holding shotguns.

SCENE END

EXT. HOTEL – DAY

Matt and Terry pull up outside a house.

INT. MATT’S CAR – DAY

MATT

Stubbs’ intel says Maskirovki is somewhere in this area, I think we should start by making some enquiries.

TERRY

Right, let’s do it.

EXT. HOUSE ONE - DAY

A man wearing a raster hat and holding a plate of cake opens the door.

MAN

Hello can I help you?

MATT

Hi sorry to bother you but you haven’t seen any suspicious characters around here lately?

MAN

Suspicious? No. I’ve got some cake.

The man pushes a plate of cake bearing the weed symbol towards Matt and Terry. Terry takes a piece.

TERRY

Brilliant.

EXT. HOUSE TWO - DAY

A girl opens the door.

MATT

Excuse me have you seen any suspicious people around here?

Girl

No.

The girls shuts the door.

MATT

Charming.

Terry laughs crazily.

EXT. HOUSE THREE - DAY

A man wearing black shades answers the door.

MAN WITH SHADES

Hello.

TERRY

Hello, we are conducting a survey about.

MAN WITH SHADES

No, I cannot help you.

The man shuts the door. Matt looks at Terry and shakes his head.

MATT

Nice one.

EXT. HOUSE FOUR - DAY

A man wearing glasses and a false nose opens the door.

MATT

Hi sorry to bother you but you haven’t seen any suspicious characters around here lately any Russian’s say?

MAN WITH FALSE NOSE

I am not from this motherland...Russia you speak of. I’m Polish.

TERRY

Ah Poland.

MATT

So you haven’t seen anything suspicious?

MAN WITH FALSE NOSE

No nothing suspicious every-thing's okay.

The man with the false nose sneezes and his glasses and false nose fall off his head and hit the floor. Terry and Matt both look at the floor, then at each other and then at the man.

MATT

That’s him, he’s the master of disguise.

MASKIROVKI

Lookout a bear on a unicycle!

Matt and Terry both look around. MASKIROVKI runs out the door and barges past Matt and Terry. Matt turns to Terry.

INT. STREETS - DAY

MATT

You get the guns Terry, I’ll go after him!

Matt chases Maskirovki down the street whilst Terry opens the boot and takes out a shotgun. Terry then runs after the two of them. Matt grabs someone's drink and does the athlete thing, terry stops to give the person some money. Maskirovki runs out across the road and a car slams on to avoid a collision. Matt pushes off the bonnet of the car whilst the driver beeps furiously. Maskirovki runs up a set of steps and as he reaches the top Matt catches up to him and dives for the russian. The two wrestle until maskirovki head-butts Matt and runs off down a footpath.

MATT

Russian bastard!

Terry reaches Matt and pats his back.

TERRY

Come on!

The two stay in pursuit of the russian until he reaches a bridge where pulls a gun out and fires at them. Matt and Terry stop and duck to avoid being hit, then Terry fires a shot back at the russian. Eventually Maskirovki makes a break for it over a field. Matt and Terry stop at the opening. Matt draws his pistol, aims and fires. Maskirovki falls down in the middle of the field. The two walk up to him and Matt aims his gun again at the russian who rolling around in pain on the ground. Matt hears voices in his head.

VOICES

Shoot him! Make the kill Graham!

Matt stands with the gun still pointing at Maskirovki.

(BANG!!!)

Maskirovki hits the floor dead. Terry is standing over him as smoke trails from the end of his shotgun. Matt looks at Terry in disbelief.

MATT

What do you think you’re doing?!

TERRY

You were taking too long, I’m hungry. Come on lets go and get a Maccies.

Terry walks off, Matt shakes his head and then follows Terry.
