Starting the Magazine Cover

I took lots of photos of my zombie in various positions so that I would have a large amount of choice so that I would have a good photo. Below is one of the photos that I had to choose from, although I painted her face white, the lights in the studio gave the rest of her a warm glow which I would have to remove using hue and saturation in Adobe photoshop.

I took the image and started to manipulate it in photoshop.

I removed the background using the lassoo tool and made the edges blurry using the refine edge tool. On most images I would want the edges of my sunject to be quite clear however I have decided that the background is going to be misty so it will blend in quite well. For the background I have used an image of my college which I purposely took on a cloudy day so it wouldn't have too much colour to begin with. I then blurred it and also selected the sky and changed it to a dark red.

I decided to call my magazine 'Entire' which is in no way similar to an existing film magazinde. I decided on a simple yet striking font for the title and made it bright red with a pale gold outline. I also curved the edges slightly to give it more of an interesting shape to it. I am considering changing the pale gold bits to white but I will leave it be for now.

Here is the magazine at its current state with the photo of my zombie on it. I have added lots of mist using the render clouds tool, however I am going to use opacity or the eraser tool to make it clearer.
