Existing Newspaper Logos

I did some research into existing newspaper logos to influence ideas for my newspaper logo...

Daily Mirror: I like the use of the white block letters with a red back ground and a bold black underline. All of these features together make the logo very eye-catching which is something i'd like to apply to mine.

Wigan Evening Post: I really like the layout of this logo and think that it is very striking, this is for a number of reasons, the first one being the town name being larger in bold block letters, this is useful as its from a local paper. The rest of the newspaper name is slightly smaller and in a different colour making the logo more interesting and the text still stand out even though its smaller. i will take the layour and color scheme of this logo into account when creating my own.

The Sun: Again i like the block lettering on the red background, i have noticed that this is a regular feature with newspaper logos so will take this into account when i create mine.

The Wigan Observer: This is one of my least favourite logos because i think that the writing and colour scheme isnt as striking as the previous, this is because its less bold and more of a serif font which i feel stands out less than the block lettering, i also much prefer the red background on the text rather than coloured text as i think that it makes the logo more visible and recogniseable.

Wigan Reporter: I like the font used in this logo i think that the red bold lettering makes the title visible and stand out, however i prefer it when the logo has the town name larger as it makes it more clear that it is a local paper rather than a national one. so when creating mine i will take into account the bold lettering and bright red colour scheme but make sure the town name is larger.
