4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research planning and evaluation stageCreating the Advert - Fonts and Colour Schemes

As well as the mian image of myself next to the steam engine, I wanted another iconoic symbol that the enthusiast audience could relate too as well as attract the interest of a casual reader. For this I decided to use the classic station totem sign, like before I stuck with Midland region colour scheme and the Gill Sans font. Firstly I had to find an Image of a Midland Railway totem

Once I found the image I wanted I had a number of issues to overcome, firstly I needed to edit out the red background. To do this I used the "eraser" tool on photoshop, this allowed me to remove the red background of the picture.

The next issue was getting rid of the words on the sign itself, again I was able to use the "clone" tool which allowed me to clone a given area of the picture and then impose the copy on another part. In this case I cloned the area of block Midland red

My final issue was to type out the text I wanted on the sign, this was easy as all I had to do was to select the colur of the font, white and then choose the font which again would be Gill Sans

After that I imposed the finished sign onto my main poster
