Magazine

Additionaly, we had to produce the cover of a magazine, promoting our new soap. We researched TV magazines, to look at layout, style and the conventions they follow.

We noticed that, they are very busy and use bright colours to make certain strories stand out. Have a large central image, with lots of smaller images around to try and 'cram' as much as they can onto the front. Font is usually bold and stands out on the cover and text and pictures are usually in a circle or square shape to fit better on the page and so they are more clearly visble. When creating our Magazine, we had these concepts in mind and wanted to follow them so we had a more realistic TV magazine to promote 'Wired'.

As there was 6 characters in our soap, we knew it would be difficult to fit all 6 on, so we decided to just have 3, just the girls of the soap and have the article 'We speak to the girls of Wired'.

This was the image we chose of the three female characters of the soap. Its a more fun image as we are promoting a teenage soap and we thought our TV magazine would be more ideally aimed to a teenage audience. So this fun, lighthearted central image we thought would work perfectly on the cover.

The colour scheme we decided on was red, black, white & yellow.

To mirror the magazine styles that we had seen before, we first deecided on a title: 'Gossip TV'. We then added a red square with a white stroke on the outside of it in the top left hand corner. We decided that the the totle would be white and black. We then added a red bar along the bottom of the magazine cover, and the slogan 'Celebs, gossip and TV in one!'. As well as this, we added the price in a circle, and made the magazine 99p.

We then added additional stories to our front cover the create the busy look that real TV magazines have. We added 3 pictures each with a border and a headline explaining what the story was about.

After this, we added the main story & headline: Meet the girls of Wired. We added a quote and a tagline to make it obvious that this is what the main image was assosiated with.

We put the finishing touches to our magazine by adding a yellow half circle with a compition in it, and then adding a barcode. Our magazine was finished!
