Evaluation Question 4 - Part One

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We used new media technologies in the research and planning of our work - here is how:

There were a few artists that we were originally considering using for the soundtrack of our music video. We used YouTube to search and view a variety of their videos for inspiration and also to listen carefully to the music and lyrics in order to decide on the song we would use. We searched for artists such as Coldplay:

And Lykke Li:

Before deciding on the Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright song.

We also used the website, after deciding on our song, to watch a range of music videos for ideas and creativity. Upon deciding to use split screen, we searched for more videos in this style to see the techniques used and how effective they were.

We also visited our friend's website http://www.waxeyes.com/ and viewed some of his amazing work. One particular video entitled 'Umbrella Girl' inspired us to use certain shots, such as close ups and shots of scenery and surroundings.

In our research and planning we used Google as a tool to gain inspiration. We searched, both broadly and specifically, female artists in order to find ideas for the print elements of our work. We googled artists that fit into the same genre as we wished our artist too and searched also for the genre in general. From this we found many professional pictures that we used as influence when creating our digipack and magazine advertising poster.

This shows a search that we conducted, entitled 'Alternative Female Artists'. Artists such as Regina Spektor and Alanis Morisette appeared and inspired us.
