Rankin

Another big influence for me is the work of the photographer Rankin. The images in his “Beauty” portfolio are images of the models, often in strange costume or make-up, similar to those shown in the Chapel club video for “All the eastern girls”, with similar contrasting themes shown in the Yeasayer “Ambling Alp” video. I really want to play on this in my video. He even does some short films, some moving portraits and his own music videos for well known artists. They are very artistic and keep you watching ! However, similar to the video I want to create, there aren’t much visual links back to what the song is about, but I don’t mind this, I want mine to be thought provoking rather than cliché.







This is a music video by “Chris and Rankin”. They both directed this video, and I think it’s great to watch. I love the changing make-up, theme and profile shots. This will be an aspect in my video, however I don’t want mine to just be a standard profile shot with one main character, i want my video to be more complex than that.
